January 8, 2018
Good morning and welcome to my first written blog of 2018. It’s a beautiful Monday morning and I hope your week and year are off to a great start. Starting strong is almost as important as finishing strong. The New Year is always a good time to take a step back and re-prioritize things in our lives. Are we on track to where God wants us to be in our personal lives? Are we making the best use of our time each day? It’s also a time when we often take on New Year’s resolutions. Weight loss and exercise are usually at the top of everyone’s list. In part because we have eaten too much ever since Thanksgiving. I know for me the next few weeks have to be different or I won’t be able to wear any of my clothes. But hopefully at the very top of your list is a new desire to be the man or woman God has planned for you. It all starts with that right relationship with Jesus. Are you spending time with Him? Is He really the most important thing/person in your life? I am committed, and we as a church are committed, to helping YOU in that journey. Let me just share with you a couple of ways today that we are trying to facilitate your walk with God. These are mainly reviews for most of you but check them out anyway.
One way we are trying to help you as you begin this New Year is to encourage you in reading God’s Word. We talk about how important the Bible is but then we spend very little time actually reading it. And reading it is just the first step (more on that next week), but it’s an important first step. That is why we are doing the 31 Day Challenge. Today is Day 8 in the challenge and this week we are reading John 1-6. Our theme this week is Love and how God showed us what Love really is when He sent Jesus to the earth for us . . . that is how much He loves us. And so each morning we are reading a chapter together. And each morning I am recording a short (2 minutes) video on Facebook LIVE. Thanks to those of you who are watching them and “liking” them and even commenting. My desire is for these videos to be an encouragement to you. Feel free to let me know if you are enjoying them. This morning I was juggling “working out” with my son and then a granddaughter was coming over for Jennifer to watch and I was trying to shoot my video before I left for an appointment at church because I wanted to use the lighting in our kitchen. So, ha, it was a little hectic but I have begun to look forward each morning to being able to communicate with many of you who follow our church on Facebook. But the point of all that is to read God’s Word . . . and then DO God’s Word!
Another way we are trying to help is through scheduling a weekend in March called OneCry. This is a weekend where we will be called to Revival, both personally and as a church. James Poole, the National Prayer Director for OneCry, spoke at our church yesterday and then afterwards, he and Reuven Ross met with our leadership team of about 25-30 people, to challenge us to pray and prepare our hearts. These men are such godly examples and my heart was touched by their obvious deep personal walk with God. We are going to be challenged like never before in the days ahead. I believe nothing short of revival will heal us as individuals, as a church, and as a nation. I hope you have not only marked off March 16-18 on your calendar but that you have also begun to pray earnestly and seek God’s face as we prepare to meet the God of the universe. Nothing we can do in 2018 will be more important than becoming passionate and on fire for God. May our hearts and lives burn white-hot for His hand upon our lives and that begins with me. I am praying today that God will make Himself more real to me than ever before and I am praying for each of you as well. I am excited about seeing God move. Wouldn’t you be excited if you actually saw God moving? I believe it’s not just possible but that we will see it and maybe for the first time in our lives. Do you believe that? Pray to that end TODAY!! If you want to join the OneCry prayer team click on this link.
Lastly, I want to wish my daughter, Lauran Fuller, a very Happy Birthday this coming Saturday!!
I am ON MISSION Today! Are You?
P.S. I just realized today is 1-8-18. J
